Singapore is now home to a set of gold-dispensing ATMs, the “first in Asia” according to the company which produced them, reports The Straights Times. The 2 machines were launched on Wednesday morning at Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands.
The gold, which is available in a variety of sizes from 1 to 10 grams, is encased in custom cases and prices are updated to keep in line with daily global prices. A one gram pendant will set you back $100 and a 10 gram, $660.
Asia Gold ATM, the maker of the machines said that it plans to install 2 or 3 more in the near future at suitable locations.
By the looks of it, the ATMs look to be more of a novelty rather than investment tool.
They still got nothin’ on Japan’s vending machines that dispense everything from fishing bait to sushi.
