Hanoi’s skyline just got a boost of color with the opening of the Nhật Tân Bridge which is illuminated by a powerful set of multicolored floodlights.
The bridge, part of Hanoi’s 43.6km ring road, crosses over the Hổng River and is Vietnam’s longest cable-stayed bridge at 1,500m, according to Zing.
The Nhật Tân Bridge’s 5 spans are lit with 5 colors each day between 7pm and 9pm, providing Phú Thượng, Tây Hồ and Vĩnh Ngọc with a colorful tint during the evening hours.
Funding for the VND13.6 billion project came from Japanese international loans and Hiroshi Fukada, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, has reportedly suggested that the bridge’s name be changed to Hữu Nghị Việt Nhật (Friendship of Vietnam and Japan).
While impressive, Da Nang’s Dragon Bridge still gets our vote as Vietnam’s most extraordinary.
