While snakes are awesome, the idea of being with one in closed quarters is less than appealing. Well, one Hanoi man felt differently and was arrested transporting 53 of them in his car. Did we mention they were king cobras?
According to the AP, 30-year-old Nguyen Van Hai, packed his car with the snakes in Vinh Phuc Province before heading to offload them in Hanoi. Considering king cobras are the world’s largest venomous snake (up to 5.5 meters long), this dude had some serious cojones.
In Vietnam, snake meat is considered a delicacy and is used in traditional medicines. Like much of Vietnam’s wildlife, the government has had to ban the hunting and trading of the snake to ensure its survival (sorry rhinos).
The details of the arrest are unclear, but according to Hai, he was only paid $50 for his services.
