The island of Phu Quoc has bumped up its visa-free stay to 30 days for international visitors, reports Thanh Nien.
The new regulations, which went into effect on March 10, raised the amount of time international visitors can stay visa-free in Phu Quoc from 15 to 30 days. They will “also enjoy the highest incentive levels offered by the government for economic, export-processing, and industrial zones.”
Phu Quoc Island is aiming to achieve the status of ‘special economic zone’ by 2020 with the hopes of becoming “a high-end entertainment-tourism center, a financial center…” while attracting 2-3 million tourists.
From January – October 2013, the island welcomed around 548,000 visitors.
It would be nice to see this common sense approach to visas adopted by the rest of the country.
