Noi Bai’s Sleep Pods Back Online After 10 Week Suspension

Ten weeks after airport authorities closed them down, the sleep pods at Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport are back in operation.

According to Tuoi Tre, the service was quickly shut down after its July launch as it lacked the proper paperwork:

“The CAAV said the provision of the new service then failed to meet safety requirements, as the agency had yet received any plans on fire prevention and protection, layout drawings, and how the service would be offered.”

At the time of their shuttering, Thanh Nien offered a slightly different story.

Vo Huy Cuong, deputy director of The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam had, “referred to "some sources of public opinion” which had charged that the sleeping spaces represented a scheme by the Vietnam Airlines Tourism Company (VATC) – which developed the pods – to capitalize on rising flight delays and cancellations,” wrote the paper.

The small rooms are 4sqm, 3m high and include a bed, wardrobe, free water, snacks and WIFI access. Single rooms are priced at VND210,000 and doubles VND252,000 for the first 3 hours with full day rates at VND1.53 million and VND1.83 million, respectively.

We could sure use some of these for our office.
