According to AmCham Vietnam, 98% of Nike footwear is produced in Asia with Vietnam leading the pack followed by China and Indonesia.
In the 2013 fiscal year, Vietnam, which houses at least 10 Nike factories, accounts for 42% of total footwear manufacturing while China and Indonesia account for 30% and 26% respectively.
While Asia leads the way in global production, Nike has independent factories in Argentina, Brazil, India, and Mexico to meet local demand.
Even as Vietnam's standard of living rises and exports are becoming increasingly tech-focused (the country now produces more electronics than garments these days), it seems labor is still cheap enough to maintain the industry that lifted the economy in the 1990s (though not without controversy as the company faced allegations of sweatshop conditions resulting in international boycotts).
