Hanoi FC on Course for an Early V.League Championship

The last three matches of the 19th round of V.League 2018 wrapped up on July 15, including a match between Hanoi FC and Nam Dinh. Although the match ended in a 3-3 draw, Hanoi maintained their position at the top of the V. League with 48 points.

Nhan Dan reported that, at the start of the match, Hanoi FC was only three wins away from clinching the championship title. At that time, the team was ahead of second-place Sanna Khanh Hoa BNV by 16 points.

Playing at home at Hang Day Stadium during heavy rain, Hanoi dominated the first half of the game. However, they missed five golden opportunities. In the second half, Nam Dinh stood firm and played attacking football, with Diogo scoring the first goal of the match in the 53rd minute.  Nam Dinh continued their goal-scoring streak as The Vuong Vu scored in the 64th minute and Diogo made it a brace in the 66th minute, leaving Hanoi FC three goals down.

Incredibly, the home team and three-time V.League winners staged a late comeback, scoring goals in the 81st, 86th and 88th minutes, leveling the match in dramatic fashion.

Following the draw, Hanoi FC remains at the top of the table with 49 points, while Sanna Khanh Hoa gained two points thanks to a 2-1 win over Saigon FC. They are now 14 points behind first place. FLC Thanh Hoa follows in third with 30 points.
