Construction of Overpass on Au Co and Nghi Tam One Month Behind Schedule

On July 25, the Hanoi People’s Committee urged contractors to address construction problems and complete the overpass, which is already one month behind schedule.

Deemed by officials as one of Hanoi’s eight key infrastructural projects, the overpass is expected to ease traffic flows in Tay Ho and Ba Dinh districts, Dan Tri reports. It will also improve transportation between these areas and Noi Bai International Airport, according to VTV. The project was calculated to cost over VND311 billion (US$13.4 million) and was expected to be completed by September 2.

Now, after eight months of construction, much of the project remains incomplete. As the sidewalk and parts of the road are under construction, pedestrians have to walk on the road. Traffic congestion is common and, as Hanoimoi reported, a lack of environmental measures means the area often becomes polluted.

Nguyen Duc Chung, chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, demanded that contractors immediately address the issues and complete the project by October 10. While working on the construction, they are expected to keep traffic smooth and the site tidy.

Each contractor has also been asked to sign a statement declaring that they will finish the project on time.
