Free WIFI Coming To Downtown Saigon During Tết

The Saigon Postal Corporation (SPT) will install hot spots providing free WIFI all along Hàm Nghi Street for the Tết holiday this year.

In addition to Hàm Nghi, free WIFI will be available in in Tao Đàn Park, 23/9 Park, Gia Định Park, Lê Văn Tám Park and on flower street in Phú Mỹ Hưng, reports Tuoi Tre.

While traditionally held on Nguyễn Huệ for the last 11 years, Flower Street will be relocated to Hàm Nghi this year to accommodate construction of the new metro station being and a pedestrian promenade.

The S-WIFI network will provide unlimited internet from February 2nd until February 16th, so holiday revelers will be able to upload their selfies to Facebook as quickly as they can snap them. Maybe we should pick up one of those awesome selfie sticks while we’re at it. Or not.

Perhaps we’re putting the cart before the horse, but it would be great to see this as a precursor to a citywide WIFI network like Đà Nẵng currently enjoys.
