To accommodate renovations to Nguyen Hue Street, Saigon’s popular “Flower Street” will be moved to Ham Nghi Street next year.
The flower displays will begin at the Ben Thanh Market roundabout and end at the Ho Tung Mau – Ham Nghi intersection. “Book Street” will begin there and end at Ton Duc Thang Street.
The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee said that the change was made to facilitate the construction of a metro line and to convert the wide boulevard into a pedestrian-only walking street.
Perhaps this is the beginning of Saigon’s downtown master plan?
