$100,000 Diamond Allegedly Vanishes From Woman’s Finger In HCMC Hotel

A Hanoi woman claims that she was drugged at a HCMC hotel last weekend and awoke to find that a $100,000 diamond had been pried from her ring.

The alleged incident occurred at the Vissai Hotel on Nguyen Van Troi Street in Phu Nhuan District where the woman, identified only by her initials D.T.H.N, stayed 2 nights.

According to D.T.H.N, someone had drugged an unfinished bottle of water in her hotel room. After coming back to her hotel, she drank the rest of the bottle and 2 hours later lost consciousness.

“I think someone drugged my unfinished water to knock me out,” N. told Thanh Nien.

“I'm a light sleeper. I should heard if someone broke into my room and pried the diamond out of the ring. However, I was sleeping like a rock that night.

“When I woke up, I felt totally exhausted.”

The 38-year-old woman told police, who are investigating the incident, that while the rest of the ring had been left untouched, she found a small graze her finger near it.

We can’t help but wonder why they didn’t just take the entire diamond-studded ring instead of going through the trouble of prying it open. But hey, we’re no jewel thieves so what do we know?

Either way, perhaps flaunting a diamond worth more than a house isn’t the best idea.
