Elsewhere in the world, a heavy bout of rain might not be a big deal. However in Vietnam, where flooding is a common occurrence, the rainy season is a prime occasion for the country’s shutterbugs to capture the trials and tribulations of life in the rain.

According to Tuoi Tre, Vietnam Street Photography – a local forum for lovers of all things photography – recently launched a competition titled “Mua,” or rain, to celebrate the beginning of 2017’s rainy season.

The contest encourages both amateur and professional photographers of all ages to submit their best rain-themed snapshot. After just ten days, “Mua” garnered some 300 entries from all over Vietnam, with Truong Thanh Tung’s photograph of Saigon’s stormageddon last year claiming first prize.

The top 30 entries will also be on display at Vietnam Street Photography’s café, VSP Coffee & Drinks, in Hanoi.
