For some, the true joys of Tết disappear before the actual holiday arrives.
This colorful short video by Saigon-based Glowing Studio focuses on a child whose mother grows the holiday's iconic daisy flowers. Helping plant them, running amongst them, and marveling at the fireflies that make the daisies their home, the young boy enjoys a bucolic life in his mother's flower field. Yet before the annual bánh tét even arrives, the blossoms must be chopped down to sell throughout the country. Such a snuffing out of pleasure source surely should be cause for a ruined Tết, but don't worry there's a happy ending.
The video production team, which has released a variety of creative works in addition to commissioned pieces for Samsung, CGV, Vinamilk and AirAsia, says the video has a positive message: "live your life with lots of love" which can be found "in the little simple things."
