Themed ‘The Quintessence of Hanoi – Confluence and Shine,’ the street festival will take place around Hoan Kiem Lake between 8am and 11am on July 29.
Leading the crowd will be 800 folk artists performing Hanoi’s various traditional dances, with 400 artisans from craft villages around Hanoi following them, PetroTimes reports. What’s more, 700 elderly citizens will perform martial arts moves alongside 300 athletes, 700 students from schools and universities will wave flags and flowers, while another 1,700 young adults will dance together in an ensemble.
The parade will occur in seven locations: Hoan Kiem Lake, Ly Thai To Square, Ba Kieu Temple, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, in front of Luc Thuy restaurant, as well as the Ba Trieu–Hang Khay and Hang Bai–Trang Tien intersections, Nhan Dan reports.
The event marks the 10th anniversary of Hanoi’s boundary expansion, in which the city’s assimilation of Ha Tay Province and parts of Vinh Phuc and Hoa Binh provinces nearly quadrupled its size.
One of the event's highlights will be hundreds of models showcasing traditional and re-imagined áo dài costumes, which were chosen from the newest collections of Hanoi-based fashion designers.
