In The Renovation Generation’s 11th episode, the Hanoi-based podcast introduces two ambitious academics, Trang Pham and Mai Thanh, both of whom are working to fight poverty and inequality in Vietnam.

The pair, both born just outside of Hanoi, didn’t become friends until their college years when they studied in the United Kingdom together. Nowadays, however, Trang and Mai often meet up to discuss public policy and social issues, namely the pros and cons of being a well-educated woman in Vietnam. In this Renovation Generation podcast, the two speak about the challenges of shaping public policy in Vietnam as well as their experiences re-adjusting to the social pressures of home after life abroad.
