Start Your Engines! Vietnam Motor Show 2013

Whether we like it or not (for the record, we don’t) cars are becoming increasingly popular in Vietnam.

To showcase their newest models, 15 auto brands have set up shop at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in District 7.

The largest of its kind in Vietnam, the 4-day show’s theme is somewhat inspiring -“Together. To Success!”

Organized by the CIS-Le Bros joint venture, the show features 8 members of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) which includes Ford, GM, Hino, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Suzuki, Toyota and Vinastar. These companies are joined by 7 imported brands such as Audi, BMW, Land Rover, Lexus, Renault, Nissan and Infiniti.

The organizers created the show to introduce their latest products and technologies and will act as “a forum for managers, policy makers, producers, and importers to discuss strategies that will encourage the growth of the Vietnamese automobile industry.”

The organizers expect the show to draw 200,000 visitors, up 80,000 from last year.

While we’re sure this is a cool event, it will likely contribute to the increase of cars in Saigon (not cool!).

We’d be more excited about a showcase of public transportation technologies...or motorbikes.
