Saigon Among Top 10 Most Vegan-Friendly Cities in Asia: PETA

PETA Asia recently named Saigon among the top 10 most vegan-friendly cities in Asia.

The regional affiliate of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which claims to be the world’s largest animal rights organization, recognized Saigon for a diverse vegan cuisine which offers more than just alternatives to popular meat-based dishes.

PETA Vice President of International Campaigns Jason Baker said in a press release: “Saigon’s vegan cuisine covers every craving, from bò lá lốt [grilled beef with betel leaves] and sweet-and-sour pork to wok-fried chicken and prawns – all 100 percent meat-free.”

“PETA applauds the city’s thriving vegan culture, which satisfies appetites, preserves the environment and saves animals from suffering,” he continued.

PETA Asia also recommended several vegan dining destinations, including Thanh Tinh, Kay Vegan Bistro and Loving Hut Hoa Dang, while also naming Ngoc Tho and Libai among the most vegan-friendly eateries in the city. All of these restaurants are located in District 1.

Meanwhile, Taipei tops the list as Asia’s most vegan-friendly city, followed closely by Singapore and Thailand’s Chiang Mai.
