The Go!Bus app will show travelers information for bus routes and connect them to Grab cars or bikes to bring them there if the nearest station is beyond 200 meters away.
The app will provide route information including fares and schedules, allow communication with customer support, and suggest routes that integrate ride-hailing apps with the bus system. It will also offer real-time updates on the bus locations and estimated arrival time and license plate numbers. In the future, it could also integrate with the city's water taxis and metro lines.
Nguyen Thai Hai Van, Grab Vietnam's CEO, explained that the new service is committed to "bringing the bus station close to you."
The Go!Bus application can be downloaded for free on all Android and Apple iOS devices via their website, or search for "Go!Bus HCMC" in the relevant operating system's application stores. At the time of writing, the app is available only in Vietnamese.
Meanwhile, in another example of Vietnam's public transportation working to keep up with modern technologies and passenger preferences, earlier this month Vietnam National Railways released an app allowing riders to purchase tickets on their phones.
