Tuoi Tre reports that Now, the popular food delivery app from the before times when we could actually order food, will be rebranded to ShopeeFood next Wednesday, August 18.
Now is operated by the tech firm Foody Corporation, which the Singapore-based tech giant Sea Group bought an 82% stake in back in 2017.
While the name Now has held on, it is being discarded so that Sea Group can unify its ecosystem, which includes the e-commerce site Shoppee and e-wallet service ShopeePay (previously known as AirPay).
Once the name change takes place, users will simply have to update the app, while all of their account information and relevant benefits will remain unchanged.
At the same time, the lesser-known NowShip general delivery service will be rebranded to ShopeeExpress Instant.
Delivery companies of all shapes and sizes are struggling, despite intense demand, due to fast-changing social distancing regulations in many cities and provinces that has made life difficult for drivers.
