The UK£1 million (VND35 billion) match was attended by over 30,000 fans that saw the hometown team lose in a contest reminiscent of the 7-1 drubbing it suffered at the hands of Arsenal back in 2013.
Before the match even took place, Manchester City’s visit was marred by a video of the team ignoring a Vietnamese man trying to chat them up in their hotel and another showing a local man burning his tickets to the match due to a similar snubbing. Perhaps the next time a Premier League team visits Vietnam more of an emphasis will be placed on activities that promote fan interaction.
