A peak on the Son Tra Peninsula is set to get the Hollywood treatment as local authorities have approved the erection of a large sign spelling out “DANANG”.
The sign, located on the southern side of the peninsula’s Ban Co Peak, will stand 450 meters above sea level, reports Da Nang Today.
Funding for the sign will come from the city budget and local organizations as well as individuals, the news source reports.
Even though details are a bit sparse as there’s no word yet on the cost or the exact size of the sign, its purpose is to "make it easier for local and foreign tourists to spot the central city."
Meanwhile the famous Hollywood rendition, built in 1923, stands 13.7 meters high in the Santa Monica Mountains and has inspired over a dozen similar signs around the world, from Bristol, England to Renca, Chile.
