In an effort to beef up Hanoi’s tourism sector, local authorities recently launched a city bus tour to give visitors a taste of the capital’s scenery.
The new service, named City Tour, is operated by the Hanoi Transport and Service Corporation (Transerco), which currently manages the northern hub’s public transport network.
As Tuoi Tre reports, City Tour’s trial period officially began last week on June 30. The planned route will start at Hoan Kiem Lake and give tourists a glimpse of some of the capital’s most famous sights, such as the Opera House and the Old Quarter.
City Tour will employ a fleet of double-decker buses painted red with colorful stripes for easy recognition. There are 42 seats on the upper deck, all open, while there are 16 seats – including two for passengers with disabilities – on the lower level.
The bus is equipped with a minibar, free WiFi and audio tour guide services in several languages which provide information on the city’s historical and cultural landmarks.
The bus service will run from 9am to 5pm daily, following the schedule of one trip every half hour.
