[Photos] Snow Blankets Mount Fansipan During Winter Freeze

Many Saigoneers have bundled up for their morning commute this week, but the cool temperatures here are nothing compared to the weather up north.

VnExpress reports that a winter wonderland on Monday night descended on Mount Fansipan, which stands 3,143 meters high, just outside of the popular mountain town of Sapa. The summit was blanketed by snow and frost when low temperatures hit 0oC.

Zing also shares that many localities in northern Vietnam have recently reported bouts of frigid weather: 5.9oC in Moc Chau, Son La Province; 2.9oC in Dong Van, Ha Giang Province; and 2.8oC in Sin Ho, Lai Chau Province.

Fansipan, known as the Roof of Indochina, is the highest peak among the mountains of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. Take a look at the winter scenery that greeted visitors on Tuesday, just in time for Christmas:
