Traveling to Cambodia is about to get a bit more expensive.
Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism, Thong Khon, announced that under a new pricing system, the cost of tourist visas will be raised to $30 from the current $20 fee, according to Thai PBS.
“The new visa fees will take effect on October 1,” the statement says.
The minister told the Phnom Penh Post that the price hike was approved to bring the country’s visa costs, which haven’t been raised since 1997, inline with those of neighboring countries.
He added that he believed the increase would not have any negative effect on tourist numbers to the Kingdom and that the government was considering extending its list of countries whose citizens can travel to Cambodia without a visa.
