The Vietnam Helicopter Corporation launched the first flight on Tuesday, ferrying VIPs and government officials ahead of the service’s general launch on April 24, reports Thanh Nien.
A company spokesperson said that the rides last between 15 and 25 minutes and cost VND2.5 – 3.5 million per passenger.
Each helicopter can carry up to six passengers who will take in the city’s popular sights such as Son Tra Peninsula, Ngu Hanh Son Mountain and Hai Van Mountain Pass.
The move follows the launch of similar services in Ha Long, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang and there are plans to expand to Ly Son Island, Cu Lao Cham and Son Doong in the future.
These helicopter tours are part of Vietnam’s focus on providing tourists with upscale aviation options. Over the past year, Hai Au Aviation launched seaplane routes connecting Hanoi to Ha Long Bay (up to VND7 million per person and HCMC to Phan Thiet (up to VND5 million per person).
