Last December, many Saigoneers were saddened to hear that city authorities asked two long-time hydrofoil service operators to cease their business. However, according to a new announcement by the local government, the pause was only temporary, as tourists from Saigon will be able to get to Vung Tau via hydrofoil once again starting this Friday.
According to Tuoi Tre, the new Pacific Express route is operated by the Petro Pacific Tourism Corporation, ferrying passengers from Saigon’s Ben Nha Rong port in District 4 to Vung Tau. This time, the company is putting two new vessels in use. Each can accommodate up to 40 passengers on the 90-minute trip. The media source added that one-way tickets are priced at VND200,000.
While the operation of Saigon’s famous marine route has been marred by accidents and vehicle malfunctions in the past, the hydrofoils remain one of Saigoneers’ favorite ways to travel to Vung Tau for a quick weekend getaway.
