Saigon Metro's Line 5 Costs More Dongs Than You Can Imagine

Saigon's forthcoming metro system seems to be getting more expensive all the time. While Line 1 began construction last year to the tune of US$2.49 billion and Line 2's price tag recently jumped from US$1.3 billion to US$2.1 billion – and also announced a two-year delay – the latest metro route to request approval, Line 5, is showing them both up at nearly twice the cost. The new track has not only met the cost of Saigon Metro Line 4, which comes in at a staggering US$4.45 billion, but surpassed it.

Hẻm Gems: Tan Dinh's Hue Food Heaven

The area around Hue O Xuan is pretty busy, making it easy to miss the address amid its neverending traffic. Though the local chain that takes up two storefronts opposite Tan Dinh Market at 18 Nguyen Huu Cau sits pretty much empty during the afternoon, it's a madhouse in the early mornings and at night, when dozens upon dozens of diners turn up for a taste of Hue's finest.

    Mien Meo Mieng / Contemporary Art from Vietnam – the most comprehensive exhibition of contemporary Vietnamese art ever presented in Sweden – features installations, drawings, paintings, videos and sculptures from 14 contemporary Vietnamese artists.
