In addition to setting its sights on the Vietnamese market, Google has added a bit of local flavor to its sprawling Mountain View, California headquarters.
Also known as Googleplex, Google’s main digs include a whopping 36 cafeterias that serve up a number of familiar culinary options including phở, bún chả, bún bò Huế and cơm tấm, free of charge for employees, according to Tuoi Tre.
Along with these tasty options, the eatery has installed signage with a bit of background on Vietnamese food.
“Neighboring countries influenced the evolution of Vietnamese cuisine, including China, Thailand and Cambodia. Similarities within these cuisines are apparent, but the Vietnamese cuisine retains distinct characteristics that distinguish it from its neighbors,” reads one such placard.
In addition to the gastronomic love, the company as also added Vietnamese text along with English, Chinese and Spanish to signs around the Googleplex.
Google has recently stepped up its marketing efforts in Vietnam, airing its first-ever TV commercial created by overseas Vietnamese director, Bao Nguyen, specifically for local audiences.
