Last week, Vietnamese film Tôi Thấy Hoa Vàng Trên Cỏ Xanh (Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass) took home the Feature Films of 2015 award at China's Silk Road International Film Festival, held in Fujian province.

The accolade is shared between three films: the Vietnamese feature, directed by Vietnamese-American filmmaker Victor Vu, China's Saving Mr. Wu and Russia's Puppet Syndrome, reports Vietnam Net Bridge.
Based on the Nguyen Nhat Anh novel of the same name, Tôi Thấy Hoa Vàng Trên Cỏ Xanh follows two brothers growing up in pre-đổi mới 1980s Vietnam who compete for the affection of the same girl.
Since its international premiere, the state-commissioned film has received positive feedback from audiences abroad. Tôi Thấy Hoa Vàng Trên Cỏ Xanh will open in theaters across Vietnam on October 2.
Vietnamese movies are really starting to hit their stride on the international stage. Last year, Nguyen Hoang Diep's Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere took home the top prize at the Venice Film Festival, while The Last Journey of Madame Phung caught the attention of French audiences at Paris' Cinéma du Réel Festival. Tôi Thấy Hoa Vàng Trên Cỏ Xanh also made its way to Cannes earlier in 2015.
