[Photos] Saigon of the Late 1960s Through an American's Lens

Saigon is changing so fast these days it can be difficult to recall what the city looked like in 2008, let alone 1968.

The below collection of pictures, shared by Flickr user manhai, was taken by Darrel Lang from 1968-1969. Lang was a US service member stationed in the city, and his images portray both busy downtown streets and quiet country lanes. 

While much has changed in the intervening decades, Lang's shots of one of Saigon's canals, and the slum housing along it, look similar to certain parts of the city today.
