Last Friday at Saigon Ranger, team Creative Drinks held their 4th event with the theme “Sell Your Creative Work” at Saigon’s newest alternative venue, Saigon Ranger.
The first speaker, Huy Nguyen, with over 10 years experience in creative roles at major advertising agencies, explained that the key to pitching clients is to come up with and speak passionately about your “big idea.”
Beyond being passionate, he recommends that you have all of the audience insights in hand and tailor your ideas to match them. If you can show how your creative idea relates to a target demographic, you stand an excellent chance at selling it through. An idea, no matter how innovative, needs to have a story to convince clients to pay for it.
The night closed with Nhut Nguyen, a branding wizard who has worked with a number of local brands and media publications. His talk focused on how to promote yourself as a creative by displaying your work wherever possible and improving both your soft and hard skills.
One of his most important pieces of advice was to work on personal projects and not to only focus on client work. This will give you the ability to hone your skills and expand your creativity even if you spend all day on commercial work.
Keep an eye on the Creative Drinks Facebook page for future events.
