[Photos/Video] Saigon's Second-Tallest Skyscraper Is Officially Open

A project several years in the making, Saigon's second-tallest skyscraper to date is now officially open.

The 35-storey, 206-meter-high Vietcombank Tower, located at 5 Me Linh Square in District 1, opened its doors on November 7, reports VietnamNet.

Designed by internationally renowned Pelli Clarke Pelli, the architecture firm responsible for such designs as Hong Kong's World Financial Center and Malaysia's Petronas Towers, the Vietcombank Tower will serve not only as the bank's headquarters but, as of October, is at 85% occupancy, also housing commercials giants like Vietnam Brewery Limited (owner of Tiger and Heineken in Vietnam), Shiseido Vietnam and Johnson & Johnson Vietnam.

For a dramatic, heavily soundtracked retelling of the building's long road from concept to reality, have a look at the 13-minute video below. Skip the beginning intro and start around 2:30 to see footage of the building under construction.
