Next time you're in Nha Trang, keep your eyes peeled for a new addition to the city skyline.
According to REIC, Butterfly Tower, an oddly shaped hotel-residence structure, is set to go up along Tran Phu, the road overlooking Nha Trang's main beach.
Built on a 5,941-square-meter plot, Butterfly Tower will stand 19 stories tall and include 590 units ranging from 50-165 square meters each. Its unusual, semi-butterfly-shaped design will afford residents and guests four different views of the city and its natural surroundings, including the ocean and nearby Cai River, as well as downtown Nha Trang and the Ponagar Cham Towers.
Designed by German firm Franken Architekten and backed by local company Song Da JSC, Butterfly Tower will also include a green mixed-use “podium” at the base of the tower, which will house shops, restaurants, bars and cafes in addition to basement parking.
The architecture firm completed its initial design in 2009 and now claims that Butterfly Tower's infrastructure construction is complete. The structure, located at the top of the U-Sea City urban development, is expected to be ready this year.
As for the name, Franken's website says the color of the tower's facade is meant to reference “shimmering butterfly wings”. We kind of don't see it, but we'll still come to the rooftop pool when it's open.
