John Legend to Perform at Vingroup Ceremony in Hanoi Tomorrow

On January 20, the American singer behind hits such as 'All of Me' and 'Love Me Now' will perform at a Vingroup event at the Hanoi Opera House.

VnExpress reported yesterday that Legend will be joined on stage by pianist Đặng Thái Sơn in a formal award ceremony to close out the VinFuture Ceremony Week. The VinFuture Award recognizes four scientists working on "breakthrough scientific research and technological innovations," according to the prize's website. This will be the first time the award has been given out.

Legend has won 10 Grammy awards in addition to an Emmy, Golden Globe and an Oscar, making him the first African American man to ever achieve the feat known as an EGOT. Since 2019 he has been a judge on The Voice US, and his fame was further enhanced by his 2013 marriage to social media celebrity Chrissy Teigen.

Important government, science and industry and business leaders are expected to attend the VinFuture ceremony, which will be streamed live on VTV. No other details regarding Legend's time in Vietnam or his travel itinerary have been released. Various workshops, exhibitions and public lectures related to the awards are ongoing this week as part of an effort to praise and raise the profile of scientific research and innovation in Vietnam.
