Last month, Vietnamese sculptor Bui Hai Son and painters Le Kinh Tai and Nguyen Quang Vinh displayed their work at FILTERS: Vietnam Contemporary Art Exhibition. While the show featured substantial exhibitions from each artist, a camera crew managed to capture Son in action as he created the sculptures presented at the exhibition.
The video below, released by event organizers urbanArt, shows the An Giang native cutting, measuring, sanding and generally putting together two of his pieces, Wild Rice and Floating Rice 2. Though it's hard to see in the video's close-up details, each wood and metal sculpture transforms from a few scraps into beautiful, simple and understated artwork at the hands of the artist.
