In an effort to tackle some of the city’s parking woes, municipal officials have agreed to build an underground parking lot beneath the Saigon Zoo.
The one-hectare lot will have an entrance on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street and will hold up to 3,000 motorbikes and 100 cars, reports VietnamNet.
Though there is no set date to begin the project’s construction – nor a timeline for when the parking lot will be complete – city officials pledged to minimize construction noise during its implementation so as not to harm the 921 animals living within Saigon Zoo’s borders.
In addition to the underground parking lot, city officials also announced the construction of two visitor parking lots for the zoo. According to VnExpress, other features of the project include planting more trees, adding new sidewalks and improving the park’s sewage system.
