Back Society » Tech » After E-Scooter, Vingroup to Launch 4 New Smartphones This Month

Vingroup's smartphone brand, Vsmart, will be Vietnam's second, after the BPhone, which was created by BKAV.

According to an announcement on VinGroup's website, the conglomerate will launch four models of their Vsmart phones on December 14. The launch event will be held at the Landmark 81 in Binh Thanh District.

All of the new models will be produced at the Vsmart factory, which is part of the VinFast factory complex in Hai Phong. Vingroup also announced that it now owns 51% of BQ, a Spanish technology firm which will be responsible for the design, research, development and production of Vsmart phones. Vingroup also partnered with the telecommunication equipment company Qualcomm and Google during the development of the phones.

The announcement came as a surprise, as Vsmart was only established six months ago, in June this year.

"Completing and releasing four models of smartphones in just under six months since we've entered the industry shows our efforts and motivation in the technology industry," said Nguyen Viet Quang, Vingroup's CEO, in a press release.

Vingroup also promises that in the future, the Vsmart factory will produce smart technological devices and devices that could converge with the Internet of Things (IoT). The multi-industry corporation also wants the launch of their smartphones to be the cornerstone for future development of a technological ecosystem and the applications of artificial intelligence (AI).
