Who says schools have to be stodgy concrete blocks?
The new TCC Elite kindergarten in Ben Tre features nautilus-like staircases awash in natural light and open areas to allow children to explore and experience nature. Built on a small hill in the flat Mekong region, the elevated portion of the school allows a view of the entire city. An open multi-purpose room brings students together while inviting cool breezes from the Cuu Long River.
The Saigon-based architects KIENTRUC O wanted the campus to connect with local residents and thus created an "open plan clearly delineated by horizontal planes in its section to infuse the architecture into a larger ecological context." Grass covered upper-level terraces and wide walkways allow neighbors and passersby to watch children play.
