Now that seaplane service between Hanoi and Ha Long Bay has launched, passengers on these flights are snapping some great photos of the UNESCO Heritage Site.
Among those who have taken the flight is Vietnamese photographer, Hai Dong who told Tuoi Tre, “that he had pressed the shutter button so fast that the camera’s memory card could not work properly after seeing the exquisite beauty of the bay from the sky.”

It’s easy to imagine how this perspective would enhance the view one of Vietnam’s most beautiful natural formations – thousands of islets stretching as far as the eye can see through the plane’s windshield (you might also be high up enough that you won’t notice the garbage patches and oil slicks).
But until we save up enough to take the flight, these photos will have to suffice.
