[Photos] Deadly Floods Devastate Quang Ninh Province

Three days of continuous rains have ravaged the northern province of Quang Ninh, turning streets into rivers and killing at least three people.

Flooding reached record proportions over the weekend in a number of towns throughout the province, including Bai Chay (270mm), Quang Ha (220mm) and Cua Ong (570mm), according to Zing.

The rains paralyzed streets around the region, especially the crucial Highway 18 where meter-high water flooded vehicle engines.

A mother and her two daughters were killed while sleeping when their run-down house collapsed and was washed away by the floodwaters.

The rain finally subsided on Monday morning although traffic on many of the province’s streets remained at a standstill.
