Thanks to a joint effort by Vietnam Railways and FPT Group, the system will allow users to book and pay for tickets online, receive e-receipts and print e-tickets for their journey. When travelers arrive at the station, they'll need only provide their e-ticket number and photo identification to board the train.
The system is expected to go live on September 1.
This new e-ticketing effort is one of many recent upgrades to grace Vietnam's railways. Late last year, Vietnam Railway Corporation offered online tickets to passengers for the first time, followed by free Wi-Fi in January of this year and a flashy new five-star train in February.
