[Photos] 5-Star Train Makes Debut on Vietnam’s North-South Railway

After four months of upgrades, a train consisting of Vietnam Railway’s typical rolling stock has been relaunched as a 5-star train, the first of its kind in Vietnam.

The train made its debut on the country’s North-South route on January 28 and includes some pretty impressive amenities, reports DTI

The interior of the train has been totally refurnished with aluminum floors and imported Japanese carpets to reduce noise. Cabins have automatic doors, beds are freshly made and attendants wear blue áo dài and are trained to 5-star hotel standards.

Perhaps most importantly, the restrooms have been upgraded with modern fittings, making a trip to the toilet a less daunting experience compared to normal trains.

It looks like these fancy new cars are yet another attempt on the part of Vietnam Railways to upgrade their services.

Last month the state-owned company announced that free WIFI has been added to some of its trains and that plans are in the works to expand the scheme system-wide in the future.

It also launched the first phase of a VND170 billion online ticketing service as part of a partnership with telecom giant FPT last December.
