For Saigon residents that frequent the glorious beaches of Vung Tau, this is welcome news as it cuts the commute from 120 to 95 kilometers, reports Thanh Nien.
This road doesn’t allow motorbikes, however, so you’ll still need a car to use the new infrastructure (oh, and watch out for snakes).
While the entierty of the expressway is not yet complete, it is set to be fully operational by Tet, 10 months ahead of schedule.
The expressway is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Asian Development Bank with an investment of VND20.63 trillion ($969.6 million).
It looks like Vung Tau’s tourist traffic from Saigon will get a healthy boost from this project’s completion as well as the recently reinstated hydrofoil services.
