Passengers Complain Of Missing Property At Noi Bai Airport

Numerous cases of stolen property have been reported at Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport, prompting VietJet to lodge a complaint with airport authorities and an increasing distrust among passengers.

Hanoi resident, Bui Thi Thanh Tam, reported that her luggage was found duct taped when it hit the baggage carrousel at Noi Bai Airport on May 23. She said that many of her belongings, including shoes and clothing, were missing when she inspected her bag after arriving from Bangkok. Two other passengers on the same flight also faced the same dilemma, reports VnExpress.

Another passenger on a flight from Da Nang to Ha Noi also last month reported that her iPad had gone missing when she received her luggage at the airport.

In May alone, VietJet recorded over 10 cases of property being stolen from luggage though the airport denied such claims.

The director of the Northern Airport Authority, Tran Hoai Phuong, said that though the airport received information about the missing property and broken suitcases, the incident didn’t occur at Noi Bai airport. He pointed to the airport’s many methods of of theft prevention, such as staff’s no pocket uniforms, many CCTV cameras and the establishment of an anti-crime squad.
