Back Society » Development » [Video] A Virtual Tour of Saigon's Ben Thanh, Opera House and Ba Son Metro Stations

Ever wonder what Saigon’s future underground metro stations will look like?

A recent video feature from VnExpress gives Saigoneers a quick look into the interior of the city’s first underground metro stops: Ben Thanh, Saigon Opera House and Ba Son. The official names and actual designs of the stations may change in the future as the video mainly utilizes 3D renderings.

According to the video, Ben Thanh Station will be 19 meters underground, comprising two basements: one will house ticket machines and a shopping area while the other contains the metro platform. The station underneath the city’s Opera House will be 33 meters deep and feature four levels, while Ba Son’s platform will be 17 meters below ground.

The virtual tour also takes viewers on a quick trip around the future stations and their train platforms.

Work on the three stations for Metro Line 1 recently intensified when a giant tunnel boring machine on loan from Japan was installed to create a 781-meter-long tunnel from Ba Son Station to the Opera House.
