On September 21, artists Nguyen Hong Ngoc (Hanoi) and Phan Thao Nguyen (Saigon) will open their studio to the public one more time before their final exhibition in November. Thao and Ngoc are two young artists selected by San Art for its residency programme - San Art Laboratory - which aims at supporting upcoming Vietnamese artists as well as funding projects that otherwise would not be brought to life.
Their residency started at the beginning of June; less than two months into the programme they had their first Open Studio event. At that stage, they were still exploring concepts and mediums to work with to express their creativity and ideas.
This will be their second and last Open studio; it is going to be very interesting to see the developments made since then.
The public will have the opportunity to see the artists’ works and observe interesting turning points and changes that they have gone through. The Open studio is also an opportunity to meet and talk to the artists in an informal, non-academic and comfortable environment.
You can find out what happened at the first Open studio in a previous article.
