Sections of two new overpasses near Tan Son Nhat International Airport are expected to open later this month.

The Saigon Times reports that flyovers at the Truong Son intersection and the Nguyen Thai Son-Nguyen Kiem roundabout in Go Vap District will partially open to traffic by the end of the month.

Work on the Y-shaped overpass on Truong Son Street in front of the airport is being expedited so that it can be completed two months ahead of schedule, according to the news source. The first beams of the bridge were recently installed roughly four months into the project.

Meanwhile, the overpass at the Nguyen Thai Son-Nguyen Kiem traffic circle is also progressing. The Urban Traffic Management No. 3 told the news site that the first branch of the N-shaped bridge, connecting Hoang Minh Giam and Nguyen Thai Son Streets, will open earlier than planned.

The second branch, linking Nguyen Kiem and Hoang Minh Giam, will be completed in September. Work on the last segment from Nguyen Kiem to Nguyen Thai Son has been delayed though, thanks to a prolonged land compensation process for families living in the area.

The entire project should be finished by the end of the year, the Times shares.

Elsewhere in the city, two overpasses connecting the Nguyen Van Cu Bridge to Vo Van Kiet Avenue on the border of District 1 and 5 will open within the next month, easing congestion at the intersection of Nguyen Van Cu and Tran Hung Dao streets.
