Report: Cu Chi Tunnels Threatened by Erosion

One of Saigon’s most popular tourist attractions, the Cu Chi Tunnels, are under threat of erosion, according to a government statement.

The comparatively short, 3.5km stretch (the full tunnel system stretches 120km) in question runs along the Saigon River near the border of Tay Ninh Province and houses the Ben Duoc martyrs’ temple and a lake-size model of the East China sea.

Construction of a dyke to address the threat was drafted by site managers in 2008 but was cancelled in 2011 due to budget cuts.

With the erosion becoming an increasingly serious problem, managers are pushing for the dyke to be completed this year.

Or, we suppose, they could create a dyke from bullet casings left on the floor of the firing range. That would be green, right?
