A Vietnamese entrepreneur recently made the list of Silicon Valley’s 40 under 40 this year.

The individual in question is Vu Duy Thuc, the CEO and co-founder of US-based OhmiLabs Inc., which specializes in providing robotic solutions to local senior citizens. The company supplies seniors who live alone with ways to connect to their children and relatives, according to Tuoi Tre.

The 40 under 40 list is compiled by the Silicon Valley Business Journal, which honors people who contribute significantly to the local community while maintaining leadership roles in tech-centric enterprises.

“I’m really surprised to have been selected [for the list], as it is a prestigious poll that includes many worthy names,” Thuc told Tuoi Tre. “That aside, I’m beyond humbled to be the only Vietnamese representative. This is an extremely meaningful recognition by America of my work.”

In the Business Journal's feature, Thuc cited his father as the biggest inspiration for his success and thanked him “for showing [me] his approach to life, work, and family through not only his passion and dedication, but also patience, integrity, and vision.”

After graduating from Saigon’s Pho Thong Nang Khieu High School, Thuc spent his next four years at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He eventually got his PhD in computer science from Stanford University in California at the age of 28.
