Fake Cops Busted by Real Cops in Hai Phong

While everyone in Hanoi and Saigon is still coming down from Obamamania, two men in Hai Phong are in custody after posing as fake policemen and firing a gun at real policemen.

Early on the morning of May 16, police in Cau Tre Ward stopped two local men, reports Thanh Nien. Thirty-five-year-old Nguyen Viet Dung and Nguyen Thac Minh Hieu, 28, claimed to be on-duty police officers, however the duo failed to show proper paperwork to the real cops. Once the actual authorities found a pair of handcuffs and two police shoulder patches in their motorbike, the jig was up.

The real police ordered Dung and Hieu to a nearby police station for questioning. In response, one of them withdrew a gun and threatened the real cops before fleeing the scene. During the actual policemen's pursuit, Dung fired at the authorities and missed. He then used the gun to steal a bystander's motorbike and escape, while Hieu fled into a market.

In the end, the real cops won out: Hai Phong authorities arrested the fake police early the following morning in their respective homes.
